The future king of Macedonia Kassandros grew together with Alexander the Great. But the ambitious and proud young man was not among Alexander’s friends; he had to conquer the throne of Macedonia through war and... through marriage. In order to become the king, Kassandros eliminated all Alexander’s nearest relatives but his sister Thessalonika, whom he made his wife. However, it was beyond any man’s power not to fall in love with the beautiful Thessalonika. Kassandros was a devoted husband and founded a new town on the shore of the Thermaic Gulf, which he named after his wife... Nevertheless, Queen Thessalonika’s residence was not situated in the port-town but in Halkidiki, the area that was several hours away by a chariot. On the prong named after her husband she owned a graceful palace, which she was presented with. From the palace, which stood on the top of the prong, there was a view over all Aegean Sea. Present-day archeologists confirmed the legend by unearthing the ruins of an ancient palace on top of Cape Kassandra. The land plot described above is situated on the very top of the hill on Kassandra Cape. It is situated quite close to the excavation of the Macedonian Queen’s ancient palace. From this spot one can enjoy an incredible panoramic view: Thermaic Gulf with the city of Thessaloniki, endless freedom of the Aegean Sea, green shores of the across-situated semi-island Sithonia, and the well-marked silhouettes of the Mount Olympus and the Mount Athos on the horizon. The house, which will be constructed here, will make its mistress the Queen of Kassandra.
